A delegation of Citrus Exporters headed by Khawaja Yasir Qayyum President SCC&I hold a productive meeting with Rana Tanvir Hussain, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, to discuss essential steps for advancing our kinnow industry. President SCC&I Khawaja Yasir Qayyum, Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Imran, along with Ch.Naseer Ahmad, Ch. Shoaib Ahmad, Mr. Nauman Mahota, Azam Tatri, Rao Qayyum and Rao Atisham join the meeting.

Agenda Highlights:

1. Import of Seedless Kinnow Plants: Discussed the import of seedless kinnow varieties to meet market demands and improve quality.

2. Expansion into New Markets: Focused on opening new export avenues for kinnow mandarins, especially in Thailand, Japan, Korea, South Africa, and Latin American countries, where formalities for market entry may be fewer.

3. Currency Agreements for Export Trade: Considered trade agreements beyond USD, particularly with Russia, Iran, Iraq, and CIS countries.

4. Inclusion of the Kinnow Sector in Faster Track FBR Sales Tax Refund System: Aimed to streamline tax refunds for kinnow exports.

5. Introduction of New Citrus Varieties: Emphasized the need for late varieties of citrus from March to June to fill a gap in the international market, as traditional kinnow has completed its lifecycle.

The honorable Minister assured of his support and pledged to work towards importing the seedless kinnow variety. This development marks a promising step towards boosting our agricultural exports and strengthening Pakistan’s citrus industry!
